Hello! So as I posted in the About the Adventurer page, I’ve started this website just as I’m planning for my first kayak camping trip. Somehow I managed to convince two friends of mine to paddle 5 miles to a wooden camping platform in the middle of a swamp, and then sleep there overnight. Hopefully the swamp creepers don’t get us and this first post isn’t my last.

It’s the Barred Owl Roost camping platform on Gardner’s Creek, near Jamestown, North Carolina. The Roanoke River Partners organization has dedicated countless hours building and maintaining these amazing camping platforms all along the Roanoke River system.

I’m very excited to launch this blog just as I launch this kayak camping adventure. I cannot wait to share my planning process and photos from the trip.
