It’s been two whole years since my last post. A lot has happened in two years, hasn’t it? Personally, I just burned out trying to put what little extra time and energy I had into this website and blog. When you have an important career, a family, friendships, and your health to focus on (all while struggling with depression and anxiety), you have to let go of the trivial projects sometimes. And then a global pandemic hits and suddenly you don’t even have adventures to share.
That’s not to say that I haven’t gone on several trips since June 2019 – I certainly have! Here’s a list of all the fun things I’ve done but never shared:
- Camping at a beautiful lakefront site at Kerr Lake State Park in June 2019
- Camping with a friend (kid free weekend!) in August 2019
- Annual family vacation to North Myrtle Beach in August 2019
- Weekend trip to Boone, NC including a trip to the iconic Tweetsie Railroad in September 2019
- Camping at Jordan Lake in September 2019
- Nat’s first plane ride for a trip to Florida in October 2019
- Exploring local Yates Mill county park in October 2019
- Ran the OBX Half Marathon in November 2019
- Took a spontaneous trip to San Francisco in March 2020 with friends – wine tasting, Muir Woods, sight seeing, and a Hamilton show! A week later, America shut down for COVID-19.
- Girl’s mountain weekend in July 2020 after negative COVID tests – hiking, relaxing, and tubing down the New River
- Asheville camping weekend in August 2020. Hiking to waterfalls was the perfect way to still travel and distance ourselves
- Kerr Lake camping trip with friends in September 2020
- Took a snowy girl’s mountain trip in January 2021
- Adopted a rescue dog in February 2021 – you’ll see Sunny in future posts
- First camping trip of 2021 to Raven Rock State Park in February 2021
- Finally got my friends out camping with me in March 2021 to Byrd’s Branch campground in Elkin, NC.
- Falls Lake State Park camping trip in April 2021
- Camping, paddle boarding, and fossil hunting at Goose Creek State Park in Washington, NC in May 2021
- Survived camping over Memorial Day weekend at Jordan Lake in May 2021
Our next trip is to Asheville again in August. This trip is where the camper really shines. We love having a hotel room on wheels when traveling to a somewhat expensive area. We’ll be staying at the lovely Asheville East KOA with a river-front site so we can dip our feet into the cold mountain water after a long day of hiking.
So welcome back to my little adventure blog and thanks for hanging tight during my 2 year hiatus. Keep an eye on my Instagram as I modernize my branding and share photos and stories you haven’t see yet.
